“Russia without Putin!”

Tens of thousands of people participated in a demonstration in central Moscow, chanting slogans like “Down with the party of crooks and thieves” and “Putin must go.”

The protesters opposed the falsification of parliamentary election results, demanded the cancellation of those results, called for a new vote, and urged the resignation of Central Election Commission head Vladimir Churov, along with an investigation into his actions.

They also called for the official registration of all political parties and the democratization of legislation.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the rally was held without any violations. However, around 60 people were detained in other cities across Russia, where protests were also held.

The march and demonstration on Saturday were organized by a broad coalition of Russian opposition movements.

“The worst fears of a crackdown didn’t materialise today, and this rally in Moscow turned out to be the most successful opposition action in Russia in years. Now, Russian authorities must decide how to respond to the demands of tens of thousands of citizens,” reported Euronews’ Denis Loctier from Bolotnaya Square in Moscow.
